Gherdai Hassell is a Bermudian artist, based and working in China. sreceived her BS from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2013). A painter, she works primarily in oil paint, but also practices in mixed media. Her paintings embrace the black figure, a vibrant display of experience. Her work explores ideas about representation, perception, identity creation, and childhood themes. With her captivating collage pieces, she captures and collects the gaze through the eyes, which also act as a veil, a protection and safe space for the women to exist in. She has showcased her work in Bermuda and China.
