AfroVeg seeks to empower people of color through food consciousness. We focus on health, fitness and social issues.
After coming to Shanghai, I realized that although there had been many spaces created for vegans and plant-based eaters, there was still a void for those who are interested in changing their diet, but find an all-vegan environment too intimidating. I thought it might be cool to have a space where we could be unapologetically ourselves without fearing judgment or backlash. I wasn’t even sure if a group would grow past 10 people or so, but I knew that perhaps it was something that was needed, even if it just made non-vegans more conscious about their eating choices.
